Blue Badge Holders

Moving House - Blue Badge Holders Information

If you are in receipt of the higher mobility allowance of Disability Living Allowance and already have a disabled blue badge, you will not have to apply for a new one as it is valid throughout the United Kingdom.

You should contact your new local authority at least 8 weeks before your Blue badge expires so that they can issue a new one to the correct address.

What is a Blue Badge Scheme?

The Blue Badge scheme provides a range of parking concessions for people with severe mobility problems.

  • Free use of Parking Meters in some areas
  • Free use of Pay and Display Bays
  • Parking on yellow Lines for up to 3 hours as long as they are not causing an obstruction or there is ban on loading/unloading.

Even though this scheme operated throughout the UK, there are variations in the application for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Ask you doctor or Social Services Department for further details
