Presenting your Living Room
- It is a good time to clear away as much of your clutter as possible box up dvd's that you don't watch often, recycle or sell old magazines and books that are collecting dusk, and give away all the unwanted ornaments etc that are on display.By doing this now you will create a better atmosphere and save yourself some time when you have found your exchange and need to pack!
- Clean the room thoroughly, if you have carpets and they are a bit grubby clean then it does not cost much to hire a carpert cleamer. Wash your curtains and cushion covers and if you are able to give yoru suite a clean. A clean room always gives a better impression to your potential exchange partners.
- If your room has been decorated with very bold colours and prints you may want to cover some or all of it bright dark colour schemes can alienate potential exchange partners as the cost of re decorating will be on their minds, Ideally Choose pale, warm neutral colours, creams, whites, maybe light beige.
- Make sure you have a light pendant, an uplighter can be bought for a small amount of money from most good DIY or hight street shops. Table lamps provide extra lighting which often create a good atmosphere if used wisely.
- If you have a lot of pictures, and bare walls you could always buy some frames and hang the the pictures to make a bare wall more attractive
- If you are lucky enough to have a fireplace emphasise it!
Presenting your dining room
- Move out any pets and pet bedding, exchange partners will be put off by the smell of pets in the family "eating area"
- Clean all surfaces
- Make sure your table is not pushed into the corner of the room or against the wall, move it too the centre of the room so that the family can imagine coming in and sitting down to dinner.
- If you table is past its sell by date use a table cloth, you dont need to dress the table with cutlery and a dinner service, but a nice bowl or fruit or a vase of flowers as a centre piece will always add a finishing touch to a room.
